SOUL SUNDAY
What's up welcome back to another classic Soul Sunday! Today's another good jam. A very rare oldie that I love to hear! When I first heard this song I fell in love. "Gloria & The Relations" get down with "Hook, Line & Sinker". She sings about how she loves her man so much that if he's cheating on her she doesn't see that because all she see's is him. This goes out to all the ladies. Whether you have been cheated on or not, just know your worth.
Hope you like this selection!
Thanks for "Tooning In"

SOUL SUNDAYS
What's up welcome back to Soul Sunday! I'm going to take you back to the Disco Funk Era. Today's artist is the "The Flirts" with one of my favorites "Danger"
The Flirts were a Menudo-like trio created and masterminded by Hi-NRG mogul Bobby "O" Orlando. The group, which comprised one blonde, one brunette, and one redhead, they are best known for their Hi-NRG dance-pop tunes "Passion", "Danger", "Helpless", and "Jukebox (Don't Put Another Dime)".
Orlando conceived the idea for The Flirts, wrote the songs, played the instruments, and produced the tracks. He then auditioned girls to be the face of the group. Orlando often called in the services of professional session singers to sing the vocals for the tracks because most of the performers were trained as dancers, models, or actresses. The Flirts went through numerous lineup changes and with every album release and tour, some girls left the group while others stayed. The Flirts released six studio albums from 1982–1992 and assorted singles. They made several international tours in the 1980s, often in the club circuit, and would usually lip-synch or sing alongside the recordings. This was the disco era. When coke was new, Free love was still in affect & the man with the most chest hair won. HAHA

SOUL SUNDAY$
What's up, welcome back to another Soul Sunday!
Today's artist is Della Humprey with "Don't make the good girls go Bad", "Dreamland" & "Your love is all I need" Della was a rising star. She performed around town at places like Fox’s Den at the Mary Elizabeth Hotel [an advertisement for that show described her as "Aretha Franklin No. 2 - Miami's Newest Singing 12-year old Soul Sister."] she played other local events in Miami and Orlando. At the age of 12 Della won a school talent show which happened to have Clarence "Blowfly" Reid as one of the judges. She recorded this Reid-penned song soon after.
Della had 2 other 45s out on the Arctic label- "Over The Tracks/Just Like The Boys Do" and "Will You Love Me Tomorrow/Let's Wait Until Dark". From what I can tell, when the 70s came Della moved into recording reggae rather than soul. After a couple of quiet years on the recording front, she reappeared in the early 1970s and cut a reggae cover song called Dreamland for a Miami label that was owned by local producer Steve Alaimo. Alaimo was a former business partner of the legendary Henry Stone "Dreamland" wasn’t a big hit here but it was reissued on a Jamaican label about a year later (circa 1972). Della then took a detour. She never made another record. She never performed again. Rumors abound that her family, driven by their apprehension of her entering the music scene at such an early age, became very protective to the point that she shied away from the public eye for good. Last year when I heard the new track from the game's new song featuring Drake "good girls gone bad" they sampled Della's song "Don't make the good girl's gone bad"... I was very excited to see that even though she never made any more hits that her voice and music was being recognized. I just wanted to send a special thanks to all the supporters & for the love. My husband has been doing Soul Sundays for about 3 years now. He one day asked me to take over & add my special touch. He said it needed a woman's touch & so I did. It's coming up on almost a year now since I've taken over & I'm very happy when people come up to me & tell me they check out my Soul Sundays every weekend & look forward to the following Sunday. That makes me feel good to know I have people out there enjoying the selections I choose. This is something I take with pride & very personal to me because each song I put has a special meaning to my life. We're working on a couple of things for Soul Sunday's that I'm very excited about. I'll keep you guys posted!

SOUL SUNDAYS
What's up welcome back to Soul Sundays!
Todays artist is the "Chantels" with a couple of my favorites.. "Maybe", "He's" gone", & "I love you so". This is the kind of music that I love to play in my husbands 56 coupe Bel-air or my 64 chevy convertible.
"Maybe" is a popular song, with words and music credited to the producer/writer/arranger and lead singer of The Valentines, Richard Barrett, but probably written by the Chantels' lead Arlene Smith and George Goldner,[citation needed] was a song first recorded by The Chantels on October 16, 1957 in a doo-wop style, released in December 1957, and climbing the charts in January 1958. The Chantels's version reached #15 in the pop chart and #2 in the R&B chart. It was subsequently described as "arguably, the first true glimmering of the girl group sound". Rolling Stone ranked it #195 on their list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The song has since been covered by many artists, including Janis Joplin, The Three Degrees (whose 1970 version became a top thirty hit) and The Shangri-Las. John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has been known to perform his own rendition of the song during live shows, as can be seen on the band's live DVD, Live At Slane Castle. The song is also the only recording attributed to artist Jill Read (a pseudonym for the song's credited producer, Dave Edmunds, whose vocals were manipulated in the studio to make him sound like a woman).
The song also made an appearance, albeit somewhat anachronistically, in the 2010 video game Mafia II, which took place in 1951 despite the fact that the song was recorded in 1957.
Thanks for "Tooning" In! Hope you like my selection
