SOUL SUNDAYS

What's up!
Welcome to Mrs. Toons Soul Sundays....
Today's artist are "The Ethics" with some of their famous ballads "Sad,Sad story", "Farewell" & " Not enough love" this Philadelphia's group vocals are smooth as silk with a gangsta sound. Every time I hear any of these songs it reminds me of my Dad always playing these 45's while he would iron his clothes putting creases in his Levi's with starch. HAHA these are my childhood memories & I'm very grateful for them...

Hope you enjoyed these selections!

SOUL SUNDAYS

What's up welcome back to Soul Sunday's!
Today I'm writing from Thailand. Cartoon & I are on our honeymoon. We got married 3 years ago but never had down time to take a honeymoon. Finally, we've had some time. I couldn't forget about Soul Sunday's so since we're celebrating our marriage & love for one another. I thought why not dedicate one of the songs from our wedding cd that we had special made for our guests.... Thanks to our friend Dj exscape who put the wedding cd's together for us.

One of the artists that we put on our cd was "The Dells" our first dance was to one of their songs "Always together" this song is one of our favorites. I'm also including a couple more of The Dells, hits " Stay in my corner" & "Why do you have to go"

Thanks for "Tooning" in hope you like my selections.

SOUL SUNDAYS

What's up, welcome back to Soul Sundays! Today's artist is Mrs.
Dee Dee Sharp singing one of my favorites " I really love you". This song is a link to my youth. I remembering getting ready to go out with my girls & playing this song. Somehow oldies like this song pumped me up. The voice, the sound always got me in the mood. I will never get tired of this song. Dee Dee sharp was born Dione LaRue, September 9, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. She is an American R&B singer, who began her career recording as a backing vocalist in 1961. In 1962 she began a string of successful Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hits: "Slow Twistin'" (with Chubby Checker) "Mashed Potato Time" "Gravy (For My Mashed Potatoes)" "Ride" and "Do the Bird" . Both "Mashed Potato Time" and "Ride" each sold over one million copies, and were awarded gold discs. "Do the Bird" provided her only entry in the UK Singles Chart, where it peaked at #46 in April 1963. In 1967, she married record producer Kenny Gamble and has since recorded under the name Dee Dee Sharp-Gamble.

Hope you enjoyed this week's selection!

SOUL SUNDAYS

What's up! Welcome back to my favorite day of the week.  Soul Sunday!  Here's a Gem from the seventies, 1973 to be exact.  Another, one of my favorite groups "Tomorrow's Promise" singing "You're Sweet, You're Fine, You're Everything" & "He don't love you like I do"  This group was led by the very great Mr. Lee Pittman.  All I can say is this group can sing!! Their Falsetto voice is what I love about Soul Music.  I truly Love these two songs.  The early 70's was a great era for true love Ballads.  Now, I know why a lot of people were born in the 70's including myself.  So much good lovemaking music was created. HA, HA

Hope you enjoyed these selections!

Today's artist is Sylvia Striplin with songs "all alone", " You said" & "You can't turn me away".  Sylvia Striplin is a New York based jazz, soul and R&B vocalist. Striplin has worked with funk, jazz, R&B and soul, vibraphonist Roy Ayers, who helped her release her 1981 album Give Me Your Love on the Uno Melodic record label.

Her song, "You Can't Turn Me Away" is featured on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, playing on quiet storm station VCFL.
