SOUL SUNDAYS

What's up welcome back to Mrs. Toons Soul Sundays!  

Last night Cartoon & I went to the Love Affair concert at the Gibson Amphitheater in hollywood with acts from Peaches & Herb, Heatwave & Deniece Williams just to name a few. My favorite were The Escorts.  This show was fun & filled with soul.  Everyone was on their feet dancing the whole night.

The Escorts have so many hits that I love.  In 1968 behind the walls of Trenton State Prison a young man by the name of Reginald Haynes started a singing group. Little did he know it would be called The Escorts. Like other aspiring artists in the 60's Reginald performed on street corners, talent shows, anywhere to get their name out there.  With a foolish act Reginald ended up in prison & that's where he found 3 other prison inmates who shared the same passion for music and that's how The Escorts unfolded.  My favorites from them are "Look over your shoulder", "I'll be sweeter tomorrow" & "Heart of gold"
